Then I saw him.

Two days later, Daniel came home.
I heard his key in the lock around 8:00 PM. My body reacted before my brain did—my shoulders went rigid.
He walked in carrying a black duffel bag, wearing the navy jacket from the photo. He dropped it onto a chair.
“Finally!” he smiled, walking over. “You have no idea how much I missed sleeping in my own bed.”

She wrote that Daniel had convinced her we had been legally separated for over a year and were only sharing a roof for financial reasons until our properties sold. She didn’t offer a dramatic apology or beg for forgiveness; she simply attached months of text messages where Daniel had repeatedly lied to her about his marital status.
“If I had known he was coming home to a wife every night, I never would have let him into my life,” she wrote.
I read the email twice.
